Oh What A Night!  No-one cared about the weather outside because we had a rockin' time at our mid-winter gala dinner
Thanks to all those who supported our fundraiser for Auckland City Mission (ACM), Himalayan Leaky Foundation (HLF) and Westhaven Rotary.
Those who came along, our generous sponsors and donors of goods and services for the auction plus the wonderful staff of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
Under the MC-ship of Ric Salizzo we heard:
* Stories of potential, generosity and whanau from Chris Farrelly (CEO, ACM);
* Mike Allsop (adventurer, pilot, Dad) kept us enthralled with heart-stopping experiences towards achieving his dream and never giving up and
Clare McCall (Co-founder, HLF) shared her passion for the people of Nepal, the work accomplished to date and the major project under planning in preparation with Rotary.
There were some amazing auction items, like the return trip for two to Taipei or Chicago, the opportunity to experience sailing on a Nacra 20 Performance Programme boat and the beautiful carved surfboard by Bino Smith which combined Nepalese and Maori motifs.
As well as a variety of cool items in the silent auction.  Our energy-plus auctioneer   Julia Rust created a fun atmosphere to get items under the fall of her gavel.  All topped off by dancing the night away to the awesome Hands Off Covers Band.
A highlight of the night was the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow recognition to Clare McCall for her ‘service above self’ in Nepal.
A rough estimate at this point on funds raised for the three organisations is $20,000.
A repeat performance is already booked for 22 June 2019.
Same place, same time - we'll see you there!
